The list cannot be displayed in DataSheet view for one or more of the following reasons:

- A datasheet component compatible with Miicrosoft Sharepoint Foundation is not installed.
- Your web browser does not suport ActiveX controls
- A component is not propelry configured for 32- or 64-bit support.

You may find solutions in different places but I thought I will put my experience in short and sweet.

If you have Office 2010 x64 on your client machine – download this plugin from Microsoft to get the above error resolved.

I came across some articles that refer to “&” being converted into a full ampersand “\uFF06″ value when inserted into termstore.  http://ilyal-technology.posterous.com/?tag=ampersand

But, the following is not working.

I get a syntax error when doing this. By doing more research, I found this one below useful.

Though, using AD FS 2.0 and Claims Based Auth, changes the format of how SharePoint interprets these names, after finding a user using the people picker, the format now is something like (“i:05t|sts name|username”), a.k.a the CBA username format.

If there is a case where your client does not want to maintain individual users in every group, and User Sync Services is not in use either, they’d like to keep using the AD Security Groups to manage the SharePoint Security. What would be the CBA format for a Group or Role?

May be you need to make sure that the correct selection from the people picker in SharePoint. If you have the following claims for example (Email, Role, UPN), every time you search on the people picker in SharePoint, it’ll display all results in each of the claim categories recognized by SharePoint; however, if you search say for a Domain Security Group and you select the entry for the Email, it won’t work, you’ll need to pick the one listed under the Role entry on the left.
